International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The first women’s day was inspired by activist Theresa Malkiel, and it took place here in New York City on February 28th, 1909. Less than a year later, activist Clara Zetkin suggested March 8th an annual day of recognition for working women. By 1975, countries around the world were celebrating International Women’s Day, and the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized March 8th as a day for women’s rights and world peace. In the spirit of International Women’s Day, we’d like to recognize and celebrate some of our amazing female leaders here at adMarketplace.
